MANA's Writing Contest: Commemorating The USA's 250th Birthday

On July 4th, 2026, the United States of America will mark its 250th Birthday. In addition to commemorating this event, it is also a time to reflect upon it. 

To encourage this reflection, MarketingNewAuthors.com (MANA) is sponsoring MANA's Commemorative Writers' Contest to highlight thoughtful voices and meaningful stories.  

Contest Themes

There are two themes for the contest:

1) What does the word "American" mean to you?

OR

2) What makes being an American complex?

Contest Categories

The contest welcomes submissions in two categories:

Essays (no more than 500 words)

Poems (no more than 300 words)

No more than three (3) submissions per person.

Contest Prizes

First Prize for an essay or poem: $250 and publishing of the work on MANA's website and in an issue of The MANA Harvester newsletter.

Second Prize for an essay or poem: $200 and publishing of work on the MANA website and in an issue of The MANA Harvester newsletter. 

Third Prize for an essay or poem: $50 and publishing of the work on the MANA website and in an issue of The MANA Harvester. 

MANA’s writing contest provides an opportunity for writers to express themselves creatively and contribute to important conversations. Through thorough, informative poems and essays, writers can educate, inspire, and convey their views to others.

All entries must be written by writers 18 years old or older. 

Deadline for submissions: September 5, 2026.
