Elesia K. Powell, 2014 MANA Poetry Contest Winner |
Ms. Powell is an adjunct instructor at Mott Community College (Flint, MI) who teaches freshman composition. She graduated from the University of Michigan-Flint with a Master's degree in Composition/Rhetoric. Ms. Powell is also the winner of the prestigious Hopwood award from the University of Michigan. The Hopwood Program administers the Avery Hopwood and Julie Hopwood Awards in writing. The program awards each year for creative non-fiction, fiction and poetry.
Ms. Powell currently has a self-published CD of poetry and prose. Her travels throughout the United States, Europe, and the West Indies are reflected throughout her writings.

Has Been
They called him a has-been.
Has been loved,Has been successful,Has been admired,Sought after and desired.But has-been was never oneTo let others have the last say,So he replied,And you–have never been.
