This is the first time in MANA’s 17-year history of providing this kind of opportunity specifically for Michigan writers to have their work published in a book at a minimal cost. We understand that some writers may not have enough material or funds to publish a book. Yet, they may have written poems or short stories that others—besides their family members and friends—should have the opportunity to read.
MANA wants to provide an affordable gateway for authors in our home state to have their work published in a book titled, The Best of Michigan Short Story Writers and Poets.

MANA’s Donation to a Charity of Your Choice
If you submit a poem or short story, MANA will donate 10 percent for every work of yours published to the charity of your choice. In addition to that donation, MANA will donate another 10 percent for every work purchased to the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) in Ann Arbor. RMHC is MANA’s designated charity for 2019.
RMHC, a non-profit organization, has two houses that provide lodging for families of children and youth under 21 years old who are receiving medical care at the University of Michigan (UM).
RMHC holds a special meaning to MANA’s owner, Dr. Fairy Hayes-Scott. While attending the UM, Dr. Scott and her sorority sisters volunteered there.
“I recognize the value of RHMC,” Dr. Scott says. “Now, as the owner of MANA and a mother of two healthy grown children and grandmother to four healthy grands, I want to support those parents who truly need the benefits that the Ronald McDonald House provides.”
