MANA Owner Dr. Fairy C. Hayes-Scott Honored as 2018 Influential Woman of the Year


Dr. Fairy C. Hayes-Scott, owner of Robbie Dean Press and its subsidiary, MarketingNewAuthors.com, has been named 2018 Influential Woman of the Year by the Mott Community College (MCC) Chapter of the American Association for Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC). The AAWCC values, promotes, and works for the advancement of women educators and students at community colleges.

Dr. Hayes-Scott, a Professor of English Composition and Literature at MCC, was honored for her dedication to teaching and helping her students develop a love for writing. Her students affectionately call her “Dr C.”

In 2015, Dr. Hayes-Scott, published Community College Students’ Literary Collage, a compilation of short stories, poetry and plays by MCC students. Community College Students’ Literary Collage was the first book professionally published by MCC students in which some of the funds earned by this work go to the MCC’s Humanities Division. 

Her dedication to the field of education has resulted in numerous awards and recognition including a Room Naming Award (Curtice Mott Room 2024—Fairy Hayes-Scott Room) bestowed by the Board of Trustees of Mott College, Kudos and Compliments for Teaching Excellence, and the International Women Leadership Association Elite. 

Dr. Hayes-Scott is a prolific writer, having written five books, and has a blog called "Dr. C's Writer's Sunrise."  Dr. Hayes-Scott recently added “DR C Consultant Services” to her list of accomplishments. 

Her formal education includes a BA in English, MA in English/Education, and a Ph.D. in Education-Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Michigan—Ann Arbor. 

With all of her accomplishments, Dr. Hayes-Scott sums up her greatest motivation as: "I am passionately in love with teaching!”
