Are You Marketing Your Book Online?

If you're a self-publishd author, chances are your family and friends have bought your book. However, you may still have a lot books left in the packaging box. What do you do with them?  How do you get people who aren't your friends or relatives to buy your book? Well, one of the best ways you can find a new audience for your book is to look online.
When it comes to selling your book, you cannot afford to ignore the power of online marketing. The fact is that today, the vast majority of self-published authors sell their books online. So, you will want to be sure that you do your best to market your book online as much as possible.
The first online platform most authors prefer is Amazon, believed to be the biggest seller of books in the world. Having your book on Amazon is almost like having it on a shelf in major bookstore worldwide. However, if you aren’t actively marketing your book, how will people know it’s on Amazon unless they stumble on it?

Create an Author's Website
Before you head over to Amazon, consider spreading the word about your book by setting up a website. Creating your own website and getting a web host is neither difficult or expensive. WordPress, Weebly, and Wix are just a few of the sites that can help you get a website up and running in hardly any time at all. Be sure to develop an author profile and a full description of your book. Consider adding a newsletter or blog to your website that will give readers updates on what you're doing, writing tips, or information on writing conferences or workshops. Also, encourage feedback about your book or comments about your blog posts from your visitors. Engaging in conversation with visitors to your website may give them an  incentive to buy your book.

Working Social Media
After setting up your website, it’s time to head to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and other social networking sites. Books are promoted every day on social media sites. As a matter of facts, some book marketers with thousands of followers, promote books for a fee.
Many authors also promote their books on Goodreads. You can set up an author profile and link your website and social media accounts to Goodreads. Once you connect with friends or with new readers, ask them to add your book to the different lists available on the platform. Authors were once able to add their own books to different lists, but the rules have since changed and other readers have to add your books to lists now.

Use a Self-Publishing Company
You may also want to look into having the self-publishing company help you to market your book.  MANA helps its authors–as well as other self-publishing authors who are not MANA clients–promote their books in various venues. In celebration of MANA’s 15th anniversary, MANA is offering a special “Cover Page” promotion for authors and small independent publishers. By adding your book cover to an alphabetical list of book covers, visitors who come to MANA’s website can click on your cover and link to your current webpage. This is an additional way of getting more publicity for your book. Click HERE to find out more about the MANA CoverPage promotion.
Remember, you need to have as much exposure for your book as possible and promoting online is one way of achieving that goal. While it is important to get as much exposure as possible for your book, you may find that you’ll get more sales online than you will from bookstores!
